INTEREPO starts on 1 October 2026, runs for 36 months and ends on 30 September 2029.

Title: EU INTEGRATED REPORTING: LINKING FINANCE, SUSTAINABILITY AND GOVERNANCE
Acronym: INTEREPO
Project number: 101320683
Programme: Erasmus+
Action: Jean Monnet Actions in Higher Education — Teaching and Research
Project type: Jean Monnet Module
Coordinator and beneficiary: Sumy National Agrarian University
Duration: 1 October 2026 – 30 September 2029

Context

Financial figures remain essential, but they no longer provide a complete view of an organisation. Investors, employees, regulators and society also need reliable information about environmental and social risks, corporate impacts, governance quality and the organisation’s ability to create long-term value.

The European Union is developing a modern corporate transparency framework in which financial data is considered alongside sustainability and governance information. The Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS) are important parts of this framework.

Ukraine needs professionals who can understand this system, work with European requirements, assess the quality of reported information and use it in managerial, investment and professional decisions. INTEREPO responds through an integrated programme of education, research and dialogue with practitioners.

Project aim

INTEREPO aims to build knowledge and practical competence in EU integrated reporting in Ukraine, strengthen the teaching of European studies within applied economic disciplines, and prepare students and professionals to work with financial information, sustainability reporting and governance mechanisms.

The project treats reporting as more than a technical or regulatory exercise. It presents reporting as an instrument of transparency, risk management, accountability, trust and long-term value creation.

Core objectives

INTEREPO has six connected objectives:

deliver at least 130 teaching hours each academic year on EU financial reporting, sustainability, integrated reporting and governance;

embed EU studies in Master’s education by modernising an existing course and introducing a new elective;

open EU learning to students at different levels, early-career professionals and practitioners through a bilingual certificate course;

connect teaching with applied research, EU case studies and academic publications;

create space for dialogue among students, academics, professionals, businesses and policy-oriented stakeholders;

secure the continued use of courses, materials, research and cooperation formats after the funding period.

Teaching programme

1. Students will examine the role of IFRS in the EU regulatory architecture, analyse financial statements and connect financial performance with sustainability information, governance mechanisms and long-term value creation.

Duration: 50 hours each year
Language: Ukrainian
Indicative cohort: 25 Master’s students each year

2. The team will study integrated reporting, ESRS, digital corporate reporting, transparency, accountability and corporate governance, including their relevance to Ukraine’s transition and reconstruction.

The project will produce:

two articles for submission to Scopus-indexed journals;

four articles for Ukrainian peer-reviewed journals;

research-based materials and cases for teaching and professional discussion.

International conference

In Year 3, INTEREPO will organise the bilingual international conference “EU Integrated Reporting: Linking Finance, Sustainability and Governance”. At least 80 participants are expected. Conference materials will be published in Ukrainian and English.

The event is designed as the starting point for a lasting community of practice and a recurring academic-professional discussion on EU integrated reporting.

Target groups

INTEREPO serves:

Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD students;

early-career professionals and practitioners in accounting, finance, audit, management and sustainability;

academic staff and researchers;

businesses and professional communities;

policy-oriented stakeholders;

anyone seeking a better understanding of EU reporting policies, standards and practices.

Expected results

By the end of the project, INTEREPO will deliver:

at least 390 teaching hours over three years;

one modernised and delivered Master’s course;

one newly developed and launched Master’s elective;

three annual intakes of the bilingual certificate course;

at least 75 Master’s students studying EU integrated reporting within degree education;

up to 90 certificate-course participants;

six academic articles;

one international conference;

teaching materials in Ukrainian and English;

continuous dissemination through the project website, publications, academic channels and professional networks.

Expected impact

At the individual level, INTEREPO will strengthen EU literacy, analytical thinking and the ability to work with financial and non-financial information. Students and professionals will be better prepared to understand EU requirements, assess reporting quality and use disclosed information in professional decisions.

At the institutional level, the project will modernise SNAU curricula, strengthen research capacity and embed European studies in the applied fields of accounting, finance, management and sustainability.

At the national level, INTEREPO will contribute to the professional and academic capacity Ukraine needs to engage with the EU regulatory environment, improve transparency and accountability, and move closer to European reporting and governance practices.

Sustainability

INTEREPO is designed as a long-term academic initiative rather than a set of one-off activities. After EU funding ends:

the updated and newly developed Master’s courses will remain in the university’s educational offer;

the bilingual certificate course will continue as an annual programme;

teaching materials will remain available through SNAU’s digital channels;

the research agenda will continue through further studies, publications and projects;

the conference will have the potential to become a recurring academic-professional event;

the emerging community will support continued exchange among education, research and practice.

Continuation will rely on the university’s academic team, digital infrastructure and regular organisational resources. It will not depend on further EU funding.

INTEREPO connects education, research and professional dialogue to build lasting capacity for EU integrated reporting in Ukraine.
