Acronym: INTEREPO
Project number: 101320683

Financial figures remain essential, but they no longer provide a complete view of an organisation. Investors, employees, regulators and society also need reliable information about environmental and social risks, corporate impacts, governance quality and the organisation’s ability to create long-term value.
The European Union is developing a modern corporate transparency framework in which financial data is considered alongside sustainability and governance information. The Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS) are important parts of this framework.
Ukraine needs professionals who can understand this system, work with European requirements, assess the quality of reported information and use it in managerial, investment and professional decisions. INTEREPO responds through an integrated programme of education, research and dialogue with practitioners.
INTEREPO aims to build knowledge and practical competence in EU integrated reporting in Ukraine, strengthen the teaching of European studies within applied economic disciplines, and prepare students and professionals to work with financial information, sustainability reporting and governance mechanisms.
The project treats reporting as more than a technical or regulatory exercise. It presents reporting as an instrument of transparency, risk management, accountability, trust and long-term value creation.
INTEREPO has six connected objectives:
1. Updated Master’s course: “Accounting and Financial Reporting under International Standards”
The existing course will be updated to reflect European approaches to financial reporting, transparency and governance. Students will examine the role of IFRS in the EU regulatory architecture, analyse financial statements and connect financial performance with sustainability information, governance mechanisms and long-term value creation.
Duration: 50 hours each year
Language: Ukrainian
Indicative cohort: 25 Master’s students each year
2. New Master’s elective: “EU Infrastructure for Sustainable Development Reporting: CSRD/ESRS for Business”
The course will translate complex EU regulation into practical knowledge for business. Learners will examine the logic of CSRD and ESRS, double materiality, value chains, climate and social risks, digital reporting formats, ESG data management, internal controls and assurance readiness.
Business cases, reporting templates, practical assignments and implementation tools will support applied learning.
Duration: 50 hours each year
Language: Ukrainian
Target group: Master’s students and early-career professionals in accounting, finance, audit, management and sustainability
Indicative cohort: 25 participants each year
3. Bilingual certificate course: “EU Integrated Reporting: Linking Finance, Sustainability and Governance”
This course will provide an accessible entry point into European studies for participants with different academic and professional backgrounds. It will cover EU institutions and policymaking, the development of European transparency rules, the structure of ESRS, integrated reporting principles and the interpretation of sustainability disclosures.
The bilingual format will combine subject knowledge with professional English terminology needed to work with EU policy and reporting documents.
Duration: 30 hours each year
Languages: Ukrainian and English
Format: lectures, guided discussions and applied case analysis
Target group: Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD students, early-career professionals, practitioners and other interested learners
Capacity: up to 30 participants in each annual intake
INTEREPO’s teaching will be informed by research into current EU policies and reporting developments. The team will study integrated reporting, ESRS, digital corporate reporting, transparency, accountability and corporate governance, including their relevance to Ukraine’s transition and reconstruction.
The project will produce:
In Year 3, INTEREPO will organise the bilingual international conference “EU Integrated Reporting: Linking Finance, Sustainability and Governance”. It will present project results and bring together students, academics, professionals, business representatives and policy-oriented stakeholders.
The programme will address integrated reporting as a policy and governance instrument, ESRS implementation, connections between finance and sustainability, educational practice and future research. At least 80 participants are expected. Conference materials will be published in Ukrainian and English.
The event is designed as the starting point for a lasting community of practice and a recurring academic-professional discussion on EU integrated reporting.
INTEREPO serves:
By the end of the project, INTEREPO will deliver:
At the individual level, INTEREPO will strengthen EU literacy, analytical thinking and the ability to work with financial and non-financial information. Students and professionals will be better prepared to understand EU requirements, assess reporting quality and use disclosed information in professional decisions.
At the institutional level, the project will modernise SNAU curricula, strengthen research capacity and embed European studies in the applied fields of accounting, finance, management and sustainability.
At the national level, INTEREPO will contribute to the professional and academic capacity Ukraine needs to engage with the EU regulatory environment, improve transparency and accountability, and move closer to European reporting and governance practices.
INTEREPO is designed as a long-term academic initiative rather than a set of one-off activities. After EU funding ends:
Continuation will rely on the university’s academic team, digital infrastructure and regular organisational resources. It will not depend on further EU funding.
INTEREPO connects education, research and professional dialogue to build lasting capacity for EU integrated reporting in Ukraine. It prepares people to move beyond isolated indicators, connect finance with sustainability and governance, and turn reporting into a basis for responsible decisions.
