Erasmus Days 2026: Four Jean Monnet Projects Strengthening the European Dimension of Education and Research at SNAU<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

As part of Erasmus Days 2026, the Department of Accounting and Taxation at Sumy National Agrarian University reflects on its Erasmus+ journey and acknowledges the European Union for the opportunities that Jean Monnet Actions provide to Ukrainian higher education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over five years, the Department has developed a consistent portfolio of four Erasmus+ Jean Monnet projects covering major areas of contemporary European policy relevant to accounting, auditing, corporate responsibility, sustainability, integrated reporting and financial governance. Building such a concentration of Jean Monnet activities within one specialised academic department reflects sustained work to integrate EU studies into professional economics and business education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The journey started in 2021 with EULASTING<\/a>, focused on EU best practices in life-cycle assessment, social and environmental accounting and sustainability reporting. In 2022, EECORE<\/a> extended this agenda to corporate social responsibility, business ethics and responsible governance. In 2025, EU-TRUST<\/a> brought a stronger focus on EU values in auditing, professional ethics, financial transparency and public accountability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2026, this progression continues with INTEREPO<\/a>, \u201cEU Integrated Reporting: Linking Finance, Sustainability and Governance\u201d, a Jean Monnet Module connecting financial reporting, sustainability and governance through contemporary EU policies and standards. The project gives particular attention to the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS), translating complex regulatory developments into university teaching, research and professional learning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

INTEREPO is particularly relevant to Ukraine. European requirements for transparency, accountability and sustainability increasingly shape business, the public sector and the accounting and auditing professions. Universities therefore need to prepare professionals who can apply standards and understand the EU policy logic behind them. INTEREPO brings this European dimension into accounting, finance, management and related disciplines while extending learning opportunities to early-career professionals, academics, researchers and practitioners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

EULASTING \u2192 EECORE \u2192 EU-TRUST \u2192 INTEREPO is more than a sequence of funded projects. It represents a coherent academic progression: from environmental accounting and sustainability to corporate responsibility; from auditing and professional ethics to integrated reporting and European sustainability reporting standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These projects allow the Department to modernise curricula, develop new courses, conduct research, engage students with EU topics, cooperate with Ukrainian and international experts, and share results beyond the University. Through Jean Monnet Actions, European Union studies become part of the professional education of future accountants, auditors, finance specialists and managers, reaching learners far beyond traditional European Studies programmes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Erasmus Days 2026 is also an opportunity to say thank you to Erasmus+ and the European Union. Their support has helped the Department of Accounting and Taxation build a sustained European dimension in teaching and research, create new opportunities for students and academic staff, and strengthen SNAU\u2019s engagement with the wider European academic community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We see these four projects as a foundation for further work. The next task is to ensure that the knowledge, courses, research outputs and international connections created through them generate lasting value, support Ukraine\u2019s European integration, and prepare professionals able to work according to the principles of transparency, accountability, sustainability and good governance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
